Solrae is a certified vegan self-tanner that is PETA approved, and excludes harmful ingredients like erythrulose and parabens. Solrae also meets all administered qualifications to be considered organic by the U.S.
Which Solrae Tanning product should I purchase?
This is a tough one but I will do my best to help you choose! Let’s break it down…
Of all of Solrae’s self-tanning products, our Gradual Tanning Lotion will give you the lightest shade. You’ll get a gradual tan that is not instant. Your tan will appear after about 6-8 hours and the gradual tanning lotion goes on clear, like a regular lotion which can be reapplied every 3 days for a lasting tan. It will give you a light, sun kissed glow.
And, it smells like pineapples. Enough said.
This self-tanning product was made specifically for the face (but can be used on the whole body) and is made with key anti-aging ingredients. You will see an instant tan, that is buildable.
Use the Solrae’s self-tanning gel nightly until you achieve the shade you prefer. You will not get too dark with this, but the tanning gel will help you achieve a very natural, light tan.
Apply with Solrae's Blending Brush for best results.
Oh yes, and it smells like almond cake. Just don’t eat it.
The very first of our Solrae self-tanner line. It is my favorite.
You can get a really dark tan with this Instant Airbrush Self Tanner aerosol. It just depends ho w much you spray during the application. You can also achieve a lighter tan if you do a quick mist.
I use the Airbrush Self-Tanning Spray daily on my face and it is the perfect self-tanner for your hands and feet!
Your tan will last about 4-5 days with this. Usually the product does not last as long on your face but it is an easy to apply self-tanner.
Ah – you need this. Everyone needs this.
Solrae’s Mousse tanner will give you the deepest, darkest tan. But you can also do a nice, light glow too! Choose the color you want by building layers during self-tan application.
For a soft glow, add only one or two layers. If you wish for a deeper, darker tan (like I do), apply 4-5 layers immediately, no need to wait between the layers.
However many layers you choose, this self-tanning mousse is super simple and quick to get the tan you want to achieve! Plus, it is way worth it!
I want to be really dark, which is the best bronzing self-tanner?
Go with Solrae’s Self-tanning Mousse and do 4-5 layers in one application. You will thank me later.
I have really fair skin, which Solrae self-tanner is best for me?
Lucky for you, all of our self-tanners are a good option for someone with a fair skin tone. The Gradual Tanning Lotion and the Tanning Gel are two of the lightest shades, so they would both be good options. However, the Sunless Tanning Mousse and Instant Airbrush aerosol are both really excellent choices, you just wouldn’t add too many layers – do about 1 or two layers.
I promise, you will look fabulous no matter what skin tone you have!
How do I prepare for my self-tanner application?
Prepping for your self-tanner application is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Remove makeup, deodorant, lotion and perfume. Try to be a clean canvas so the self-tanner can tan your skin without any type of barrier!
- Use a loofah, exfoliating tan mitt, or even a simple wash cloth to exfoliate your skin. This will help the tan last longer because you are removing any dead skin cells that may flake off too soon.
- Make sure you are dry! If you are applying right after a shower, make sure your skin is completely dry.
- Moisturize problem areas. It is not always necessary, but if your elbows or heels are super dry, add some moisturizer so the self-tanner blends better in these problem areas.
Now you are ready to apply! Don’t forget about your face – all of Solrae’s sunless tanners are made for your entire body, including your face.
To keep your lasting tan, moisturize daily.
How do I tan my hands and feet?
These are definitely the trickier areas. I suggest using Solrae’s self-tan blending brush for a flawless application. The self-tanner face brush really glides on smoothly to the skin and also helps to avoid the palms – self-tanner on your palms is not a good look.
Don’t forget to bend your knuckles so you get in all the cracks and crevices. You don’t want to bend your fingers and see noticeable white lines.
How long do I have to wait to shower?
For all of our self-tanners to fully develop, you should wait about 6-10 hours until getting wet.
Can I sleep with self-tanner on my skin?
Sometimes sleeping with a self tanner is unavoidable. I actually think the best time to apply it is before bed. With that said, it is OK to sleep with the developing self tanner. We recommend using darker colored sheets and dark, long cotton clothes to allow the skin to breath.
My tan is fading. How do I remove it so I can reapply?
Jump in a hot, steamy shower and exfoliate, you can even buy an exfoliating tan mitt. When you get out, rub the towel over any stubborn areas but don’t hurt yourself! Sometimes you need to just wait it out. Exfoliating is key.
How long will my tan last?
The length of your tan will be affected by your skin’s health along with the prep before applying your self-tanner and your after-care routine.
It is crucial to follow a proper care regiment to prolong the longevity of the tan.
Typically our Solrae Sunless Self-Tanners will last anywhere from 4-10 days, and it all depends on whether you tend to have more dry or moisturized skin to start with. Moisturizing daily will help keep the tan stay longer on your skin.
What is the shelf life of my self-tanner?
Solrae proudly provides the freshest self-tanning products to our clients. Opened self-tanners have a shelf life of 6 months, while unopened self-tanners have a shelf life of 8 months.
How do I know if my tanner is expired?
If you are unsure if your self-tanner expired, do a patch test and see what type of result you get.
Once your self-tanner has in fact, expired, it will no longer develop. So, after the development time, if it is expired, you would no longer see a tan develop on the skin.
Will I turn orange?
No, you will not turn orange. If you turn orange, you used way too much of the product and/or applied it too often.
Does Solrae test on animals?
Solrae does not test on animals. In fact, we are PETA approved and we are a certified vegan self-tanner. All of our tanners exclude harmful ingredients. Our self-tanners are also paraben free.
Is the tanning mitt reusable?
Yes, our reusable tanning mitt can be used multiple times but that does not mean it will last forever!
Rinse Solrae's self-tan applicator under cold water after use. When it is fully cleaned, the water in the sink should be clear. For a 360-degree dry, pop the tanning mitt on the mousse bottle so it is standing upright.
Typically your tanning mitt should last between 2 bottles of tanning mousse – maybe more. I trust you on judging when you need to toss it out and trade it in for a new one.
What is your favorite product?
Let’s change that to products because I have two favorites. In no particular order…
- I LOVE the Instant Airbrush Self-Tanner aerosol on my face (daily). I also use it on my hands and feet because truth be told, I am not the best at applying the tanning mousse to those areas.
- My other favorite is our Solrae self-tanning mousse. I use it about once every 10 days on my entire body. The mousse lasts on my skin a really long time!
You really cannot go wrong. I use all of the Solrae self-tanners. It just depends on my mood, time of year, and/or how tan I want to be. Find your favorite Solrae self-tanning product and try them all!
