A natural-looking sunless glow takes a little preparation beforehand. I’ll start at the very beginning of the self-tanning routine, and walk you through our tips and tricks of the trade to ensure your sunless tan looks fresh for as long as possible.
Exfoliate Your Skin
Exfoliating your skin before using a self-tanner is vital to keeping your tan fresh. This means shaving too! When you scrub away dead skin cells, you are awakening your skin and pores to create new skin growth! Exfoliating also helps to wash away dirt, oil and residue left on your skin from other products, like deodorants, lotions, body sprays, etc.
Moisturizing is Key
Keeping your skin hydrated is an important step in the self-tanning process. Nourished, silky skin is happy, healthy skin. When you moisturize, be sure to concentrate on the typically dry areas of your skin, such as your knees, elbows, hands and feet. Keeping these areas extra moisturized will decrease the chances of your self-tanner being darker at these sites. Your face needs moisturized too. I know this can be a problematic area for a lot of people, especially with oily skin and breakouts. Be sure to choose a specific moisturizer dedicated to your facial skin type. Let your moisturizer dry overnight or at least until it soaks into your skin, at the minimum.
Your Skin is Ready to Self-Tan
Try to wait at least a day after prepping your skin before applying Solrae Sunless Tanning products. Apply our products to dry, clean skin. No lotions or deodorant. Wear loose fitting clothing after applying your sunless tan. And be sure to give the self-tanner ample time to work its magic on your skin before showering.
