The Bride’s Guide to Tanning: Be A Beautifully Bronzed Bride on Your Wedding Day

Posted by Kendal Rudolph on
Bride's Guide to Tanning

“Here comes the bride, all dressed in white…” and if she wants to, she can have a flawless bronzed tan without risking sunburn or even worse, peeling from a sunburn! There should be zero stress on the day of your wedding. Your tan should be the last thing that is worried about which is why we have the Bride’s Guide to Tanning!

Prepare Your Skin for a Tan

If your skin isn’t ready for a self-tan, then it simply won’t work like it should. Your skin should be clean, shaved, exfoliated, and moisturized prior to applying a self-tanner. Read more on how to prep your skin for long-lasting sunless tanning.

Bride's Guide to Tanning

Find The Perfect Shade of Tan with Self-Tanner

Whenever you purchase your gorgeous dress, start thinking about your tan. If you are a summer bride, a darker bronze is acceptable. Spring and fall will call for a lighter shade and winter can be just a touch of sun-kissed bronze!

Solrae has products that can build upon layers to help darken the color of your tan. Pick which product you prefer, whether that is our mousse, gradual tanning lotion, instant airbrush, or our gel, and start to perfect at what point you should use the product, how long it takes until it looks perfect to you, and how many layers you applied.

Get Professionally Bronzed

If you are local to Solrae, we can professionally customize a spray tan for you. It would be perfect to do a trial run of your spray tan a couple weeks prior to your wedding day. Schedule your tan and then after 24-48 hours, put on your wedding dress to evaluate your color. If you love your bronzed level, schedule an appointment 2-3 days prior to your wedding date to have your wedding spray tan completed. Remember that our customized tans will still develop 24+ hours after application so don’t get nervous with initial results.

Don’t Forget Your Face

It always seems easier to protect our body with clothing when we are outside to avoid sunburn, but sometimes we forget about our face. Brides - you will want your tan to be even from head to toe so don’t forget to do a couple of things:

  1. Always apply SPF to your face (and body) when going outdoors
  2. Do several test runs when faux tanning your face
  3. Once bronzed, do a trial of your wedding makeup application to make sure the shade of bronze looks great with your makeup color choices
  4. If for some reason using our products on your face doesn’t work, opt for a foundation and bronzing makeup that matches the shade of your body tan.

Ensure Your Tan Lasts

To keep your tan looking natural and healthy, apply moisturizer daily. Not only will this help with the color of your tan, but it will keep your skin soft and smooth. Dry areas of the skin will potentially end up a different shade when doing your sunless glow.

Final Bride Tips

Be sure to wait at least 48 hours after you have tanned to see your faux glow with your wedding dress on to ensure excess product has been absorbed or washed off in the shower. If for some reason you do get any kind of product on your dress, you have time to have it professionally cleaned before the big day and at least you know to wait even longer after tanning to put that stunning dress back on!

On the day of your wedding, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, for more reasons than one! But the one we are focusing on is that our skin craves water. Apply moisturizer everywhere, especially on your elbows and knees and you’ll be glowing, while blushing, down the aisle!
