The Organic Way To Tan

The Organic Way To Tan

A healthy glow looks beautiful. What doesn’t is skin tone unevenness and damage caused by the sun. This is why we self tan.

Going outdoors means exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. These are the rays that tan our skin. They are ever-present, no matter the time of the year or amount of cloud cover. Elements like snow, water, sand, and glass windows increase the intensity of those rays by reflecting and thus multiplying them. They can penetrate clothing. And they can quickly cause sunburn, which damages and ages skin at a fast rate and increases the risk of developing skin cancer.

Thank goodness for the sunless tan. It’s safe, easy, and convenient. Nothing looks better than a healthy glow, and to have one year-round is an ultimate benefit. Even better, we can choose to self tan with products that promote healthy skin, like those with organic ingredients.

Better for Your Skin

Clearly, choosing to apply sunless tan products rather than tanning via the sun is better for your skin and your overall health. When you protect from the sun’s rays, you needn’t worry about damaging your skin’s delicate layers. And that is the most important way to maintain healthy-looking skin.

It’s also better to avoid as many harmful ingredients and chemicals in your skincare as possible. Parabens, which are unfortunately widely used in beauty products and cosmetics, are found to behave as hormone disruptors. It’s a good idea check ingredients on all skincare products before purchasing.

While checking for unsafe ingredients in our skincare, we can also look for nourishing ones that can improve upon the healthy-looking glow delivered by self tanning products. The best self tanner is one made with organic ingredients. Organic sunless tanning spray or other formulas with argan oil or vitamin E (or both) will treat and nurture skin.

When you have a choice, it’s always better to go with an organic tanning lotion. Additional formulas like sprays, oils, and mousse are great depending on your skin type and what you’re looking for to best treat skin.

Better for the Environment

Clean skincare is not only better for your health – it’s better for the earth. Toxicological research has revealed that man-made ingredients in personal care and beauty products have an incredibly damaging effect on our ecosystems and the rate of environmental pollution. Using skincare with safe and organic ingredients will help curb the negative impact synthetic components are having. Additionally, harmful chemicals in our products directly affect personal health, increase overall climate temperatures, and contribute to the depletion of our natural resources. Extensive packaging adds to destructive effect consumer goods have on our environment, so it helps to look for products with minimal boxes and wrappings.

Skincare that is vegan and free from animal cruelty also promotes better environmental health. Organic vegan self tanner is an excellent product we can feel good about using.

Do Organic Self Tanners Work Well?

Organic tanning products absolutely work great, in addition to being better for skin.

While self tanners feature a verified-safe chemical called dihydroxyacetone (DHA) that helps skin to bronze, organic self tanning products tend to have much less than other brands.

In addition to less DHA, organic products often have natural and safely derived oils and vitamin-enriching ingredients that soothe and hydrate skin, which increases and extends the healthy glow you get from self tanning. Well-hydrated skin looks younger and makes self tans easier to maintain, so organic sunless tanning sprays and lotions are just as, if not more, effective than those that can’t claim clean ingredients.

So when planning to achieve and continue a healthy bronze, it makes sense to go organic. The best sunless tans come from the best ingredients. A great organic vegan self tanner is the way to a buildable, warm glow and soft, supple skin.
